General Questions
What is The XC?
The XC is an extreme sports facility located in Hemel Hempstead. We offer a wide range of activities including caving, skating, high ropes, climbing parties, BMX, and yoga.
Do you offer group bookings or parties?
Yes, we offer special rates for group bookings and parties. Contact us for more details.
How can I book a session at The XC?
You can book a session through our online booking system or by contacting us directly.
What are the safety measures in place at The XC?
Each participant is required to have a valid Acknowledgement of Risk form completed prior to taking part in any activity. These forms detail the risks and hazards that can be found whilst participating at XC. If it is your first visit, or you are on an instructor led sessions, you will be further briefed before you take part.
Caving
What is the experience like for caving at The XC?
Caving is not for the claustrophobic. You will mainly be crawling around tight tunnels. The taller you are and the bigger you are, the harder this activity becomes.
What equipment do I need for caving?
All necessary equipment will be provided by The XC. Just wear comfortable clothing.
Are there any age restrictions for caving?
We have a minimum age of 8 for caving. Although 6 & 7 year olds can attend if an adult is with them in the cave for the duration of their session.
Skating
What types of skating can I do at The XC?
We cater for all riders. Skateboards, Scooters, BMX, Inline. If you have something out of the ordinary, it would be best to email in and check before hand.
What rules and etiquette do I need to follow?
We have signage up around the skatepark on the type of behaviour expected, as well as in our Skatepark Acknowledgment of Risk form. So please ensure you read these.
Do you provide skate rentals?
We do not. You would be required to supply all your own equipment. Including helmets for under 18’s and any other safety equipment you would normally use.
What should I wear for skating?
This is personal preference. As long as it is not something that could offend another user or cause any harm to you or other riders.
Ropes and Climbing
What type of rope activities do you offer?
We have a mixture of top ropes and lead walls.
Are instructors available for rope activities?
Yes! Please check out the climbing pages and find what suits your needs!
What should I wear for rope activities?
Dress appropriately according to the temperature outside. Although we are an enclosed building, it can be hot in summer and cold in winter. Wear layers that can be easily removed if you become hot. Dresses and skirts are not permitted. Remove all jewelry and if you have long hair, this must be tied back into a low ponytail. Tops must be worn at all times.
Yoga and Other Services
What types of yoga do you offer?
We currently offer 1 yoga class per week. This is for complete beginners for those who are more experienced.

We have an on site cafe that serves hot and cold food and drinks. So spend the day with us!
